GTAP Database reference

This section documents the native classifications of the GTAP Data Base — the full region and sector lists at the resolution Purdue ships, plus the set/variable/parameter definitions of the GTAP v7 model that operates on them. Use it when you need to know what a code like xea or gro actually covers, or which set a variable is indexed over.

This is the unaggregated reference. For the smaller aggregation actually used in GTAP-Invest simulations (50 regions × 26 sectors), see GTAP-Invest aggregation (s26_r50).

Current release — v12 Data Base

The v12 Data Base (released 2024) is the default for new GTAP-Invest runs.

  • v12 regions (163) — region codes, names, and the countries that compose each “Rest of” aggregate. Three new African countries split out from xac/xec relative to v11.
  • v12 sectors (65) — the 65 GTAP sectors with descriptions. Codes are unchanged from v11.
  • v12 model variables — sets, subsets, exogenous/endogenous variables, and parameters of the GTAP v7 model. These are properties of the model, not the database, and are identical between v11 and v12 — only the dimensions they’re indexed over change.

Legacy — v11 Data Base

Kept for reproducibility of older GTAP-Invest results. Prefer v12 for new work.
